Expressions of interest are invited for a new Multiprofessional Co-Chair of the UKKA International Committee.
The Committee’s vision is to strengthen global kidney health by sharing knowledge and experience, promoting collaboration and addressing inequalities in care. Its work supports the development of sustainable kidney services, infrastructure and expertise in low- and middle-income countries through education, training, mentorship and research.
The successful applicant will work alongside the current Medical Co-Chair, Dr Jinadu Yusuf Olanrewaju, to guide the Committee’s activities and ensure multiprofessional perspectives are embedded throughout its work.
Formed in 2004 by Meguid El-Nahas and colleagues, the UKKA International Committee has played a key role in building partnerships between UK kidney teams and colleagues worldwide. The committee works closely with the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) to share expertise and strengthen links across regions, including through initiatives such as:
-
UK Sister Units
-
Ambassador roles
-
Case study sessions
-
The Medical Training Initiative (MTI) scheme
-
Research collaborations
-
Joint sessions at international meetings
Through these activities, the Committee aims to:
-
Raise the international profile of UK kidney centres and teams as teachers, trainers and mentors
-
Encourage two-way learning by attracting overseas trainees to the UK and supporting UK professionals to contribute abroad
-
Build creative, sustainable partnerships that improve kidney care globally
To apply, please send an expression of interest statement to The Secretariat outlining why you would like to be involved, by Wednesday 27 November.
