Launched on 1 September of last year, the LifeArc–Kidney Research UK Translational Centre for Rare Kidney Diseases has made good progress in its five-year mission to transform outcomes for patients with rare kidney conditions.
This pioneering initiative was created to build a 'UK Kidney Ecosystem', harnessing existing national infrastructure including the UK Kidney Association guidelines, RaDaR, the UK Renal Registry, and the NURTuRE biobank. Co-designed by the kidney community, the Centre aims to create an efficient, equitable, and age-inclusive research environment that lays the groundwork for future clinical trials.
Project Milestone
We are thrilled to share that we have now successfully scoped all sites and are now actively engaging with local BAPN sites to secure research nursing support—set to be in place ahead of September 2025. Momentum is now building fast and we're pleased to report that all plans are on track.
Global Impact in Motion
We recently hosted an international workshop in Liverpool where we began shaping the design of a global trial for IgAV as part of the growing UK Kidney Ecosystem.

We look forward to bringing you more updates on the project soon!
