The UK Kidney Association (UKKA) invites expressions of interest for the role of Medical Chair of the Patient Information Committee. Following three years in post, the current Chair will be stepping down. The Committee is now well established, with a strong multidisciplinary membership and clear strategic direction.

During this period, the Committee has:

  • Achieved Patient Information Forum (PIF TICK) accreditation
  • Completed a comprehensive review and update of 50+ patient information leaflets, with a second review cycle commencing
  • Developed six Easy Read resources
  • Expanded into multimedia formats
  • Reached significant national impact, with over 400,000 online accesses annually and substantial annual print distribution

The Patient Information Committee is responsible for the development and oversight of high-quality, evidence-based patient information for people living with kidney disease, their families and carers. The work is delivered in partnership with Kidney Care UK, which provides operational and administrative support.

Role of the Medical Chair

The Medical Chair will provide strategic and clinical leadership to the Committee and will:

  • Provide medical oversight and governance assurance
  • Chair Committee meetings (held online two to three times per year)
  • Support recruitment and engagement of Committee members
  • Champion high standards in patient information development across UKKA
  • Ensure continued compliance with PIF TICK standards

Applicants must be a medic and a member of the UKKA.

The appointment is for a three-year term. Applicants who wish to discuss the role informally with the current Chair, Yincent Tse, are invited to contact ukka@ukkidney.org and this can be arranged.

Applicants should submit a brief expression of interest (maximum 100 words) outlining their suitability for the role. Where there are multiple suitable applications, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a short, informal interview.

Expressions of interest should be sent to: ukka@ukkidney.org by the 29 March 2026.
