The UK Kidney Association (UKKA) is recruiting a Deputy Director of Informatics Research to help lead the delivery and development of high-impact kidney data research across the UK.

This senior role is a unique opportunity for an experienced or emerging leader in informatics, epidemiology, or health data science to support the UKKA’s mission: improving lives by supporting professionals in the delivery of kidney care and research.

Drive change through data

The Deputy Director will work closely with the Director of Informatics Research to shape and expand the UKKA’s epidemiological and big data research portfolio. This includes supporting the strategic development of the UK Renal Registry’s research activities, mentoring renal scientists and trainees, and building strong national partnerships.

You will help ensure the UKKA remains at the forefront of data-driven kidney research by advising on study design and statistical methods, supporting high-quality data use, leading research dissemination, and engaging with key stakeholders such as NHS England, NIHR, Kidney Research UK, and academic institutions.

Key details

  • Contract: Secondment, 1 day per week for two years (subject to appraisal)

  • Salary: Paid at current salary

  • Location: Filton, Bristol (hybrid or remote working available)

We are looking for someone with a strong track record in informatics or epidemiological research, experience in leading or delivering collaborative grant-funded projects, and a commitment to supporting workforce development in health data science.
