DAYLife Shortlisted for HSJ Award

The DAYLife Shared Haemodialysis Care Mentoring Programme has been shortlisted for the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2026 in the Patient Safety Education and Training Award category.

DAYLife is a national improvement programme delivered in partnership by the UK Kidney Association, Kidney Care UK, the National Kidney Federation and Fresenius Medical Care. It aims to support kidney centres to increase access to home dialysis therapies through quality improvement, collaboration and the development of practical tools and resources.

The shortlisted project paired five established shared haemodialysis care centres with five centres looking to introduce or expand shared care. Through centre-to-centre mentoring, training and quality improvement support, participating teams shared practical experience, tested new approaches and developed sustainable shared care programmes within their own services.

Commenting on the shortlist, Dr Udaya Udayaraj, DAYLife Lead and Clinical Co-Lead for KQIP, said:

"To be shortlisted for an HSJ Award is an amazing achievement and a testament to the success of our Shared Care Mentoring Programme. Being shortlisted is a celebration of everyone involved in the Shared Care Mentoring Programme. Thank you to our mentors and mentees for your dedication, collaboration and willingness to share and learn from one another. Your contribution has been central to the programme's success and the positive impact it is having for patients."

The HSJ Patient Safety Awards celebrate initiatives that improve patient safety, experience and outcomes across UK healthcare. Winners will be announced at a September awards ceremony.
