The UK Kidney Association (UKKA) has welcomed Lisa Ancliffe as its new Multi-Professional Team President, succeeding Clare Morlidge, who now takes up the role of Past President.
Lisa brings extensive experience in kidney care and UKKA leadership, having previously served as UKKA MPT Clinical Vice President. She currently works as Clinical Lead for Renal Therapies at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and has been a longstanding advocate for the role of allied health professionals within the kidney community.
Welcoming Lisa to the role, UKKA Medical President Katie Vinen said:
"We are delighted to welcome Lisa Ancliffe as the new MPT President of UKKA – Lisa brings with her a wealth of experience having been Clinical Vice President previously. As an Occupational Therapist, she brings a national profile in leadership within the MPT with particular contributions to projects on workforce, AKCC, frailty and supportive care."
Commenting on her appointment, Lisa said:
"It is a huge honour to step into the role of President of the UKKA and to represent and advocate for AHPs and the entire MPT in the kidney community. I am looking forward to working with Katie and building on the work I have done both with the UKKW programme committee and in the clinical vice-president roles by celebrating the diverse professional backgrounds that make up our kidney community and ensuring we meet the needs of our members and champion the strength of the UKKA when we all work together. Clare has done an incredible job and been an inspiring mentor for both myself and many others during her tenure. I thank her for all the work she has done and wish her well in the next chapter of her career, whilst being grateful for her continued support as Past President for the next year."
As Lisa begins her term as President, the UKKA also recognises the significant contribution made by Clare Morlidge during her time in office.
Over the past two years, Clare has helped lead a number of important developments across the Association, including work on acute kidney injury, specialist training curricula for the multi-professional team, the UKKA leadership programme and the UKKA Education Hub. More recently, she has been instrumental in establishing the Glomerulonephritis Specialist Interest Group and co-leading the Voices to Vision project, which is helping shape a new strategy for kidney care.
Paying tribute to Clare's leadership, Katie said:
"As we welcome Lisa, we also say a huge thank you to Clare Morlidge as she moves from MPT President to UKKA Past President. During her time as President, Clare has led work on AKI, and more recently has been instrumental in establishing the glomerulonephritis special interest group. She has championed specialist renal training curriculae for the multi-professional team and has helped to continue our multi-professional leadership course. She has supported the foundation of the UKKA education hub and most recently co-led the Voices to Vision project to establish a new renal strategy for the next 10 years. She has been an amazing MPT President and a great pleasure to work with."
Reflecting on her time as President, Clare said:
"As I step down from President I wish to welcome Lisa to the role. I have every confidence in Lisa continuing taking the UKKA forward. I have really enjoyed my time as president. The UKKA has some truly inspiring leaders that make the role really enjoyable. Reflecting on my time as president, the UKKA has continued to go from strength to strength with amongst other things celebrating 75 years as a kidney professionals association; setting up an integrated CKD program; starting a GN SIG and the voices to vision program. From an MPT perspective I really feel that the whole kidney team in integrated into all workstreams of the UKKA and I feel that is the strength of the association is with so many enthusiastic and committed people."
The UKKA thanks Clare for her leadership and dedication as Multi-Professional Team President and looks forward to working with Lisa as she takes up the role.
