• MPT Co-Chair Wanted - UKKA Primary Care SIG

• Primary Care Members Wanted - We are looking for primary care colleagues with an interest in kidney disease to help shape this new group. Please share with anyone who may be interested.

The UK Kidney Association (UKKA) is the professional body for kidney professionals, representing over 2,000 members including doctors, nurses, scientists, pharmacists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.

Working alongside partner organisations, UKKA has supported efforts to raise the profile of kidney disease, including its recognition by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as a non-communicable disease. With NHS priorities increasingly focused on prevention and community-based care, UKKA is keen to support primary care colleagues in leading improvements in kidney disease management. Administrative support will be provided to help facilitate the work of the group.

About the SIG

UKKA is inviting expressions of interest to establish a new Primary Care Special Interest Group (SIG) for kidney disease.

This group will strengthen the interface between primary and secondary care, supporting improved patient outcomes through collaboration, innovation, and shared best practice.

Initial Focus Areas

In its early phase, the group will shape its priorities, likely including:

• Education - developing resources to support primary care management of kidney disease
• Data and Quality Improvement - using data to drive measurable improvement
• Guidelines - contributing to development, dissemination, and implementation
• Gap Analysis - identifying unmet needs in primary care kidney services

The Terms of Reference will be developed once membership is established, ensuring they reflect the expertise and priorities of the group.

Who Should Apply

We welcome expressions of interest from MPT UKKA members with an interest in renal and primary care to co-chair the SIG alongside a medic, as well as applications from non-members working in primary care who would like to be part of the group.

This may include:

• GPs
• Nurses and pharmacists
• Allied health professionals and the wider multi-professional team
• Academics and those with an interest in service development and improvement

Co-chairs are expected to be UKKA members.
