John Goldsmith (1924 - 2025)

We are sad to announce the death of John Goldsmith. He was 101 years old and had been our senior surviving nephrologist. John Goldsmith had a remarkable life: a childhood refugee from Germany in the 1930s, he was eventually able to settle with his family in Britain;  he did not begin to speak English until he was 15 years old. Qualifying in medicine, he went on to be the founder and director of the Liverpool renal unit, first at Sefton General Hospital, later at Royal Liverpool Hospital.
