Introducing our new Kidney Patient Safety Chair

Date: November 5th, 2026

We are pleased to welcome Dr Francesco Rainone as the new Co-Chair of the UK Kidney Association’s Kidney Patient Safety Committee.

Francesco is a Consultant Renal Physician at Salford Royal Hospital and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He has been part of the UKKA Patient Safety Committee since 2019 and brings valuable clinical and patient safety experience to the role.

The Committee provides leadership and advice on safety issues affecting people receiving kidney care. It identifies emerging risks, promotes shared learning and works with healthcare professionals, patients and partner organisations to support safer practice across UK kidney services.

UKKA members are encouraged to bring forward any kidney-related patient safety concerns, incidents or emerging issues to the Committee. Sharing these experiences helps identify risks, promote learning and improve safety across kidney services nationally.

We look forward to working with Francesco in his new role.
