Getting Started

If you are considering a career in nephrology, one of the best ways to learn more about the specialty is to get involved early. Speak to your local renal department about attending outpatient clinics, shadowing the multidisciplinary team or arranging a renal taster placement. Getting involved in audit, quality improvement or research projects is also a great way to develop your portfolio while gaining valuable experience.

If you’re not sure who to contact, get in touch with the Kidney Starter Network, and we will do our best to connect you with trainees or clinicians in your local unit.
