Introducing our new Kidney Patient Safety Chair

We are pleased to welcome Dr Francesco Rainone as the new Co-Chair of our Kidney Patient Safety Committee. Francesco is a Consultant Renal Physician at Salford Royal Hospital and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He has been part of the Kidney Patient Safety Committee since 2019 and brings valuable clinical and patient safety experience to the role.

Exploring incremental haemodialysis practice across the UK

Incremental haemodialysis tailors treatment to a person’s remaining kidney function. A national survey will explore UK practice and inform planned analysis using UK Renal Registry data to investigate patient outcomes. Gavin Dreyer joins UKKA Trustee Board

Longstanding UKKA member, Dr Gavin Dreyer, has been appointed as UKKA Honorary Secretary and joints the Board of Trustees. We look forward to his support developing a Medical Committee, managing consultations and special projects, and building on the overlap between CKD and severe mental illness in relation to UKKA outputs with education and membership support.

Professor Menna Clatworthy appointed Oxford’s first woman Regius Professor of Medicine

Professor Menna Clatworthy, a long-standing UKKA member, has been appointed Regius Professor of Medicine at the University of Oxford. She will be the first woman and the first nephrologist to hold the position.
