Yorkshire and Humber

Improving kidney care across Yorkshire and Humber

The Yorkshire & Humber Kidney Network brings kidney services across the region together to address shared priorities through collaborative quality improvement.

Current work includes regional programmes focused on reducing the environmental impact of haemodialysis and understanding and reducing missed appointments, with kidney units using shared approaches and data while developing improvements that respond to the needs of their own services.

TRUNC-HD

Trying to Reduce UN-necessary Carbon in Haemodialysis

TRUNC-HD is a regional QI initiative developed by the Yorkshire and Humber Kidney Network in partnership with KQIP. Kidney teams across the region have designed and tested locally relevant changes to reduce the environmental impact of haemodialysis, sharing their progress and measuring the environmental and financial impact of their work. Scaling up the completed interventions across the region could save an estimated 120 tonnes of CO₂e and nearly £200,000 each year.

MISSME

Making Improvements, Shaping Services for Meaningful Equity

MISSME is a regional QI programme focused on reducing missed appointments across kidney services in Yorkshire and Humber. Participating units are collecting data through a shared regional tool to better understand patterns in missed appointments, including differences by age, ethnicity, distance to clinic, sex and deprivation. Each service is then focusing its improvement work on an issue identified within its own clinics.
