Disparities reports

The UK Kidney Association’s disparities reports use UK Renal Registry data to examine differences in kidney care and outcomes by age, sex, ethnicity and socioeconomic circumstances. They cover adults and children who started long-term treatment for kidney failure in England and Wales between 2014 and 2020.

We use the term ‘disparities’ because these reports describe differences between patient groups without statistically adjusting for other factors. They do not establish why those differences occur or whether care would be equal or fair if all relevant differences between groups were taken into account.

Access to the kidney transplant waiting list

This UKRR study examines access to the UK kidney transplant waiting list among adults aged 18–75 who started KRT between 2017 and 2020.

Its statistical models take account of selected patient characteristics, allowing more detailed comparisons between patient groups and kidney centres.
