Renal indicator data
The NHS England renal indicator dataset brings together centre-level information collected by the UK Renal Registry (UKRR) to monitor the quality of kidney services in England. The collection supports NHS England’s Specialised Services Quality Dashboards, which enable comparisons between providers and support improvements in care.
Published aggregate results are available through the Renal Services Quality Dashboard. These help kidney teams examine variation and changes over time, supporting clinical audit and quality improvement.
What information is included?
Published indicators include:
- Peritonitis rates among people receiving peritoneal dialysis
- Rates of Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections among people receiving haemodialysis
- Access to kidney transplant listing
The dashboard provides national, regional and kidney centre results, with data tables available alongside the charts.
How is the information collected?
Kidney centres contribute quarterly returns to the UKRR. The infection indicators cover a rolling 12-month period because the number of infections within an individual quarter can be small.
For current submission arrangements or questions about your centre’s return, contact the UKRR about renal indicator submissions.
Using the data
Published aggregate results can be viewed and downloaded through the dashboard without submitting a data access application.
