Shared Haemodialysis Care Mentoring

The DAYLife Shared Care Mentoring Programme connects kidney centres with experience in shared haemodialysis care with centres looking to introduce or further develop shared care within their services.

Through structured centre-to-centre mentoring, training and quality improvement support, participating teams share practical experience, work through local challenges and develop approaches that can be embedded within their own services.

The programme aims to build shared care capability across kidney services and encourage collaboration between centres at different stages of developing their shared haemodialysis programmes.

Highly Commended

The Shared Care Mentoring Programme was Highly Commended in the Patient Safety Education and Training Award category at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2026.

The recognition followed the completion of the first mentoring cohort and acknowledged the programme’s collaborative approach to sharing expertise between kidney centres, developing local teams and expanding shared haemodialysis care.

2025-2026 programme

The first cohort paired five centres with established shared haemodialysis care programmes with five centres looking to introduce or further develop shared care within their services.

Each mentor and mentee centre worked together over the course of the programme, combining regular paired meetings with development sessions, reflective sessions and quality improvement training. This gave teams a structured way to share practical experience, identify local priorities and test approaches within their own services.

2025 Programme Launch Event

The latest Shared Care Mentoring Programme began with a virtual launch event in March 2025, bringing mentor and mentee centres together for the first time. The session introduced the programme and mentoring approach, before teams explored their starting points, local barriers and priorities and began planning their first steps together. You can download the event agenda and view the presentation slides from Part 1 and Part 2 of the session. The full launch event is also available to watch below.
